If you want to be away for an extended period of time, it’s a great idea to ask someone you would like to house sit for you. This will mean having them stay at your place the whole time, or simply stopping by occasionally to ensure everything’s fine, catch the email and maybe water your plants.

Prevent avoidable electrical problems while you’re goneunplug whatever you can, such as your TV, lamps, wallflowers, chargers and tiny appliances. Make sure everything is switched off, before you leave.
