This Tudor in the Berkeley Hills has played host to a collection of literary readings and theatrical shows through the years inside the living area.
Downstairs, guests are mingling in the living area and kitchen over water or wine or on the deck looking out enter through the back door or as more climb the old stone steps to the handsome brick house that is Tudor-framed. The opening night audience is diverse enough–by age, race, and gender –to function as a Berkeley promo.
The shows were put on by the present homeowners, two retired doctors turned actor and novelist, as evidenced in a 2015 San Francisco Chronicle article, which reads, in part:
Actor and in-house producer Ron Dritz and his spouse, co-producer and point manager Margaret Cuthbert, live in this place, near Indian Rock Park, also on Friday and Saturday their ample living area was packed with friends and neighbors for performances of Harold Pinter’s cryptic drama Old Times. Remodeled kitchen.
