Those who opt to take ride-hailing services like Lyft or even Uber will need to go to Ground Transportation, cross the skybridge, and arrange a ride to fulfill at the Ride-Sharing spot.
A taxi ride runs about $45 to $50 to flights and downtown are found in the Ground Transportation department outside baggage claim.

In 2017, the suburban transit program SMART introduced a service known as FAST, with a route which goes from downtown Detroit to the airport through Michigan Avenue in roughly one hour. It is $2 each way and stops at both terminals. Schedules can be accessed here.

Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) sees over 35,000,000 passengers annually undergo its McNamara and North terminals. With the traffic to Detroit going up annually as a result of the town’s constant recognition in national press as a leading tourist destination, that number will likely continue to grow.

For longer layovers, the Westin provides a Space for a Day, so visitors can shower and sleep. Rooms are offered from 9 a.m. to 6 pm and operate $150 for weekdays and $109 on weekends.
The McNamara Terminal has two Be Relax locations to find a massage. When exercising is more your thing, the Westin has a gym with a gym, swimming pool, and showers. The cost is $15 along with a safety check point is located nearby, so travelers don’t need to return to the ticketing counter.
Many parking options are available around DTW. Of course, the airport itself has short- and long-term parking garages across from the North and McNamara Terminals. Daily long-term parking at the McNamara Terminal maxes out at $24 in the garage, and $14 in the Big Blue Deck at the North Terminal. Green lots will also be available for parking for $12 a day. A shuttle can take people to terminal.
It takes about 30 minutes (door-to-door) driving to get to downtown Detroit in the airport depending on traffic. Below, we’ve got a few hints on where to park.

Eight nursing rooms are available for moms throughout both terminals. The rooms have comfortable chairs, a sink, a counter, and electrical outlets. Those wanting to use a room need to have their cell phones handy for easy code. At the North Terminal, locate them in gates D8, D15, and D24.


The best way to get there

Visitors can also select from a variety of Qwik Park lots close to the resort, where it costs around $11 a day to park. Spots can be ordered ahead of time and a shuttle takes travelers for their own terminal.

Where to park

Pro Suggestion: The Westin has dining choices near the security checkpoint, so if you are looking to meet a friend who has a long layover, that’s can be a great alternative.
Many concessions and dining choices open at 5 a.m. for early-morning travelers. DTW also has a number of water bottle filling stations in the terminals for your benefit.
Pro Suggestion: Have any questions while you’re in DTW? The airport includes about 80 volunteers, called Airport Ambassadors, who can help you out. Find them within their sharp blue vests around the airport.
